Supporting the communities in which we live and work is important to us. For many years we have been actively involved in a range of activities that contribute to the development of those communities. Current activities include:

Pro bono work
Since inception our lawyers have undertaken a wide range of pro bono legal work, offering their expertise for free or at significantly reduced rates for worthy causes in our local communities.

By way of example, for several years during the days when local radio was run as a community service rather than for profit, we advised pro bono the local radio stations that eventually came together to form GWR.

Community Support
Our people undertake non-legal work for charitable organisations, schools, people in need and other organisations supporting our local communities.

Our partners, for example, hold trusteeships in such diverse organisations as the Royal Marsden hospital, the Lords Taverners and the Bristol Old Vic and our people act as governors in more than 100 schools in the private and maintained sectors.

OC Charitable Fund
We operate a charitable fund, financed by annual contributions from the firm's partners, that donates approximately £85,000 a year to support charitable causes.
Our philosophy when considering requests for financial support from the fund is to prioritise support of:

  • local voluntary sector activities in the communities in which we have offices,
  • charities in which our people have active personal involvement,
  • charitable fundraising activities by our people, clients and contacts.

Recent examples of our support include:

In London, the Royal Marsden, Great Ormond Street and Barts hospitals.

In Thames Valley, the Berkshire Community Foundation.

In Bristol, St Peter's Hospice and the Children's Hospice where we are currently sponsoring "the Osborne Clarke staff nurse" through our charitable fund and through the fundraising ingenuity of our people.
